Therapeutic Support for Children, Young People and Families

If you are looking for child counselling or family therapy in Newmarket, you do not have to navigate a long waiting list or sit in a clinical corridor.

At Sensory Nest, we have built something different: a Montessori-inspired family setting where therapeutic support is genuinely accessible, professionally delivered, and rooted in real care for children and families.

We work with three experienced therapists who are part of our community.

Urszula offers psychotherapeutic counselling for children and young people, as well as parental consultations.

Dorota is an HCPC-registered music therapist who works with children and adults using music as a therapeutic tool.

And Belinda offers equine-assisted therapeutic experiences at her farm in Bury St Edmunds.

Together, they make Sensory Nest one of the most comprehensive and genuinely holistic family therapy networks in Newmarket and the wider Suffolk area.

Child Counselling & Psychotherapeutic Support in Newmarket

With Urszula

Psychotherapeutic Counsellor,

Sessions at Sensory Nest, Newmarket

Urszula offers professional, individual psychotherapeutic counselling for children and adolescents in a safe, supportive and confidential environment.

Each session is carefully tailored to the child’s developmental stage and individual needs – not a fixed programme, but a genuine response to what that child is carrying.

Therapy gives children and young people a private space to explore their emotions, experiences and challenges at their own pace. Through conversation and evidence-based therapeutic techniques, children develop a better understanding of themselves and build healthy coping strategies they can carry with them into daily life.

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses music to support emotional, social and physical wellbeing in a safe, accepting and respectful environment. Crucially, it is not about musical ability. Sessions are built around expressive, non-verbal communication rather than performance .

Dorota specialises in working with children, young people and adults experiencing developmental, cultural and health-related difficulties. Her sessions help people discover ways to express their emotions and develop inner strengths (particularly those who find that words alone are not enough).

Who Can Music Therapy Help?

Music therapy at Sensory Nest in Newmarket is suitable for children and adults. It can be especially beneficial for those experiencing:

• Developmental delays or neurodevelopmental differences (including autism and ADHD)

• Communication and speech difficulties

• Emotional and social challenges

• Anxiety and low mood

• Trauma and loss

• Cultural transitions and identity challenges

• Health-related difficulties affecting wellbeing

Equine Therapy Suffolk Experiences

With Belinda

Equine Therapist

Sessions at Belinda's farm, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Available through the Sensory Nest therapeutic network, Belinda offers equine-assisted therapeutic experiences at her farm in Bury St Edmunds - a short drive from Newmarket.

These are not riding lessons. They are something altogether more profound: structured therapeutic encounters with horses that help children, young people and adults access healing, self-awareness and personal growth in ways that talking alone sometimes cannot reach.

Why Horses?

Horses are highly intuitive animals. They respond honestly to human emotions, offering a safe and non-judgmental space for reflection and connection. Simply being present near a horse is frequently enough to enable significant breakthroughs.

Belinda's herd ranges from a small pony to a 17.2-hand ex-racehorse, meaning sessions can be gently tailored to each individual. The horse often makes it clear which human they wish to work with, and that instinctive connection is at the heart of the therapy.

What Sessions Look Like

Every interaction begins with a gentle introduction to each horse. Often the horse itself makes clear which person it wishes to work with, and simply being present near a horse is frequently enough to enable meaningful breakthroughs.

Subsequent visits may include grooming, leading the horse and other activities that are essential to the horse's welfare.

Where appropriate, therapeutic riding may also be incorporated as part of a powerful healing journey.

Who Can Equine Therapy Help?

Belinda works with children, young people and adults. Her programmes are fully tailored to each individual's particular needs.

In recent years she has worked extensively with young people who experienced significant isolation during the pandemic lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, for whom equine interaction has provided a renewed sense of self and connection.
